Tada!

I present to you the first green bean porridge ever made by me! Green bean porridge is known for its detox effects. When I was in Haikou, I was ambushed by a group of mosquitoes and hence the need to detox.

I am back!

Cat's back. All jetlagged. I could use some IV about now... hehe.

Me getting an IV in Haikou -- got sick and dehydrated, but was mostly my own fault. (Sigh, Jiggy, where were you when I needed you to the rescue? :-P)

The IV room in the hospital -- damn, why can't we have one of these at work!

100th Posting!

Yay, whereiscat.com is officially one hundred postings old! Alright, I'll put up some pictures I took in Haikou today. The storm clouds finally departed and it was all blue sky and fluffy clouds.
Palm Trees: stand in attention!

Grounds at the hotel looking pretty

This is my favorite -- it just captures the contradiction in China today -- a lucky charm with Chairman Mao and a Wall Street Bull inside a taxi. Hmm Chairman Mao would be flipping if he saw all this superstition and capitalism...

&%#@*$

&#$%@! Haikou has like 99% chance of rain every day this week! How am I going to swim in the beautiful pool -- there goes my dreams of being a mermaid and get all toned up before I head back to the States. The good news though is the typhoon has finally blown through.

It's actually quite beautiful from the hotel. It's about 3am here. I can see the sparkling outline of downtown Haikou and hear the waves from the sea.

Typhoon in Hainan

Arrived in Haikou - just in time for a typhoon. The sea is all churned up.

Deja Vu

Back in Hong Kong again. Waiting for my connection flight to mainland China. Had a bowl of noodle soup at Ajisen Ramen. It was soso, too much MSG in the soup. I used to like it very much in Hong Kong and Shanghai but the branch at HKG is at best soso.

Chairman Mao's Kitchen

Here is a place to revigorate my revolutionary fervor :-P
Note to self: remember to bring the little red book to complete the look.

Pretty Day

LA is really pretty when the air is clear. Notice the Hollywood sign?

The Cat and the Raccoon

I had a close encounter with a large raccoon the other day. Here is a transcript of our conversation:

Cat: aww cute puppy dog, wait a minute, doggies don't have panda eyes, maybe a cute kitty cat, but kitty cats don't have striped tails??? It's a raccoon!
Raccoon: WTF is that? It's a human!
Cat and Racooon in unison: AAAHHHHHH!!!
Cat: running to her car with her arms flailing wildly in the air...

At one point we were face to face staring at each other, actually it was rather cute... Here is a picture of a raccoon, not the one I saw though.

LA at Night

I am embarking upon a new photography project -- LA at Night. Here are a few pictures...

Mormon Church -- No crossing allowed! I really like the composition of this picture. Kind of ironic.

After the concert at McArthur Park -- I called it the mini Hollywood Bowl. A few people still lingered.

Cruising in the Warehouse District -- it's all hustle and bustle during the day but completely quite and deserted at night.

Award for Best Fruit Designer goes to....

...God! There is nothing better than a watery watermelon in triple digit temperature. I devoured at least two this weekend! The temp better let down soon -- otherwise I might eat watermelons into extinction.

Clouds over LA...

I've decided to combine the pictures I took of clouds over LA into one collection entitled -- Clouds over LA... yay, this shall be my first photographic exhibit... Gosh, I am officially an artist now!

Lately, I've been quiet fascinated by the clouds over LA. Hmmm, maybe it's the extreme heat in the area, but we've been getting some very puffy looking clouds. Anyhoo, as Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls once said (in a very cutesy little girl voice) -- I like clouds, some are shaped like heart, some are shaped like pony and some are shaped like clouds... Ah, sometimes I wonder if angels are indeed napping inside, floating in all the puffiness...

Okie, since I am an artist now, I better come up with some self important, pretentious description of my pictures...

Existentialist Clouds -- oh the human condition, it's so fleeting so meaningless, blahblahblah...

Pretty clouds over Public Storage - they reminded me of the clouds in European classical paintings...

Going home Clouds ... ahhh, stuck in traffic.

Polygamist Clouds over the Mormon Temple, hehe.

My favorite! Puffy puffy clouds, I just want to pinch their cheeks!
