All I wanna do is have some fun

... until the the sun comes up over Santa Monica Boulevard...

What a fantastic day! Beautiful view of Santa Monica beach -- from a parking garage!

Pretty palm trees -- the people sleeping under the trees are homeless people.

The pier -- the cars are such eyesores. Anyhoo, I've ridden the ferris wheel before. I like ferris wheels -- they take you up high and are slow -- unlike scary roller coasters!

Another view of the beach.

Bye bye, Baiji

The world's most endangered mammal, the Yangtze River dolphins, or Baijis, as they are called in Chinese, are now likely to be extinct. An extensive expedition in the Yangtze River recently failed to spot any Baijis.

Bye bye, Baiji. Rest in Peace. On behalf of my fellow humans -- sorry we destroyed your habitat.

Dumplings!

I was working late today so treated myself to some home made dumplings as a late night snack. Dumplings are probably Northern Chinese's sole contribution to Chinese cuisine. I am particularly proud of the ones below because I personally made the dough wrappers. (though I suppose P and J deserve some recognition too for getting the pork, the shrimp, the chives, chopping them up to the make fillings, mixing the flour and water and some other stuff to make the dough, wrapping the dumplings, etc. etc.) It was so hot this past weekend -- I almost had a heat stroke from making the dough wrappers.

Look at these -- fat and yummy.

A closer look at the filling.

Hermosa Beach

Beachgoers enjoying a warm sunny afternoon...

Hermosa Beach -- looking back at the shore.

Little birdie lost in deep thought -- hmmm, which human should I poop on?

Chloe Bag

I want this bag so badly. It is on sale for US$1,300. I know a) it's totally overpriced by like US$1,200, b) it's my one month's rent c) I won't care about the bag in a month. But right now, I want it so much! I can see myself as a globetrotting hotshot lawyer with my sharp suit and a Chloe bag. Ha, the opposing counsel will have no chance! But, alas, I am old enough that I can control my buying impulses. Hmm, maybe I should find a $20 imitation when I am in Hong Kong next...

Glamour Shot

Another self portrait. Aren't I cute?

K, I got this pic off of the BBC (Agence France-Presse) - it's a Persian cat at a kitty show in Taipei. I just want to hug it and kiss it, so adorable.

LV the Ugly

I was at the mall today. While I was on the escalator going to the second level, I couldn't help but notice the LV bag the lady in front of me was carrying. It looked like this (without the little multicolor key chain, which is extra).

The more I looked at it, the uglier and cheap it looked. LV purses are around $1000 each. IMO, they are nothing spectacular. I don't get it, why do women spend so much money on these purses. Do they really think LV purses such as the one above are beautiful or is it only to show off? If LV were a Walmart brand, would the same woman be carrying the ugly thing proudly on her arm? I almost got caught in the purse craze once -- I purchased a designer purse for $400. It was the dumbest thing I ever did -- I didn't care for it after a month. Now, it's sitting in my closet collecting dust. I would rather save the money and go traveling or eat a good meal or donate it to a good cause.
