I Love Anthony Bourdain!

Ok, Anthony Bourdain is now officially my favorite TV personality... sorry Colbert :-) Bourdain is ourtrageous, funny, but respectful and thoughtful. I am watching an episode on the Phillippines... I want that roasted suckling pig!

Really? I always thought he cultivated a sort of an arrogant, better-than-you, but somehow still rugged bad boy aura. Who knows if he's really like that or just trying to get more viewers, but "respectful" did not really come to mind. Maybe new show, new personality?

Have you read Kitchen Confidential? People love it, but it annoys me because he's so pompous.

Haha, people have different taste. I like him alot, I don't think he is pompous at all. If he thinks something is strange, he won't pretend it is not (just to be PC), but at the same time, he wouldn't put it down as if it's beneath him or he is the norm/point of reference... anyway, you should watch the episode on Japan, I really liked that one!

I should say I'm basing all my comments off Kitchen Confidential, not how he comes off on TV. Maybe I just dislike his writing style.

Ok, just for you I watched clips on the internet.

He's not pompous. I rescind that comment. But his dialog is extremely stilted. When he talks it sounds like he wrote himself a very formal script, and then tried to read it back as casually as he could but didn't get it quite right. He still has more interesting things to say than a lot of food show hosts, but the highly narrated tone throws me for a huge loop.

That's funny... I am ok with the narrated tone.
